Smoothed dynamics in the central field problem

چکیده
Consider the motion of a material point of unit mass in a central field determined by a homogeneous potential of the form (−1/rα), α > 0, where r being the distance to the centre of the field. Due to the singularity at r = 0, in computer-based simulations, usually, the potential is replaced by a similar potential that is smooth, or at least continuous. In this paper, we compare the global flows given by the smoothed and nonsmoothed potentials. It is shown that the two flows are topologically equivalent for α < 2, while for α ≥ 2, smoothing introduces fake orbits. Further, we argue that for α ≥ 2, smoothing should be applied to the amended potential c/(2r2) − 1/rα, where c denotes the angular momentum constant.

In distribution networks, failure to smooth the load curve leads to voltage drop and power quality loss. In this regard, electric vehicle batteries can be used to smooth the load curve. However, to persuade vehicle owners to share their vehicle batteries, we must also consider the owners' profits. A challenging problem is that existing methods do not take into account the vehicle owner demands ...
متن کاملSimulation of Gravity Wave Propagation in Free Surface Flows by an Incompressible SPH Algorithm
This paper presents an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) model to simulate wave propagation in a free surface flow. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved in a Lagrangian framework using a three-step fractional method. In the first step, a temporary velocity field is provided according to the relevant body forces. This velocity field is renewed in the second step to include t...
متن کاملA High-Velocity Impact Simulation using SPH-Projection Method
In this paper, a new smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) algorithm for simulation of elastic-plastic deformation of solids was proposed. The key point was that materials under highvelocity impact (HVI) behave like fluids. This led to propose a method which was similar to the socalled SPH-projection method, in which the momentum equations are solved as the governing equations. The method consi...

In various statistical model, such as density estimation and estimation of regression curves or hazard rates, monotonicity constraints can arise naturally. A frequently encountered problem in nonparametric statistics is to estimate a monotone density function f on a compact interval. A known estimator for density function of f under the restriction that f is decreasing, is Grenander estimator, ...
متن کاملIncompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations on free surface flows
The water wave generation by wave paddle and a freely falling rigid body are examined by using an Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH). In the current ISPH method, the pressure was evaluated by solving pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection scheme and the source term of pressure Poisson equation contains both of divergence free ve...
